Ecomfort is the outreach branch of EPPS CHRISTIAN CENTER. Our mission at Ecomfort, Inc. is to reach out to the hungry, homeless, and hurting in our community. We have been working in the community since 2007. Our primary goal since Ecomfort’s inception has been to improve the quality of life for the hungry, homeless, and hurting in our community. The goal of our program is to improve individual and families socioeconomic status. We plan to accomplish this goal by helping individuals increase their disposable income. Our soup kitchen program now receives and distributes over 60,000 pounds of food a month and gives away food to more than 7,000 people monthly. In 2018, we opened a resource center to help individuals receive needed assistance with job applications, applying for assistance benefits and providing linkage services.
Our resource center is open Monday - Friday from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm. We provide emergency food distribution, case management and referral services. Our emergency food distribution program receives referrals from outside agencies such as the Pensacola Dream Center, 211 and Escambia County School District to identify individuals and families in need of emergency food. Emergency food boxes are prepared from USDA and private donations. Case management services include assistance with job applications, help with applying for benefits such as SNAP, Medicaid and social security, assisting the homeless with birth certificates and identifications. In addition clients are able to use the computers to file their tax returns, job applications and apply for benefits themselves. We also provide referrals to other agencies in the community for those needs we cannot assist with. We serve any in the community in need of assistance. Clients are able to access our services Monday - Friday 8:00 am to 2:00 pm. and are referred to us through walk ins, outside agencies ,or word of mouth. We have chosen to address the goal of improving individuals and families socioeconomic status. We plan to address this goal by helping individuals increase their disposable income. We will measure this outcome by the number of clients receiving benefits applied for, number of clients receiving employment through assistance with birth certificates and identification, and the number of clients receiving emergency food.
