In the area where the soup kitchen is located (Brownsville Pensacola area) the poverty rate is 21.4% compared to the rest of the Pensacola area rate of 17.5%. That means that in the Brownsville area 1 out of every 5 individuals live below the poverty line. The Brownsville neighborhood has a greater percentage of children living in poverty (54.2%) than found in 95.2% of all U.S. neighborhoods. Every year, Ecomfort, a 501(c)3 organization, gives food to nearly 84,000 individuals. Yet the need still persists. With the rising costs of food, gas and inflation these residents are now faced with more food insecurity and our organization is faced with the daily task of trying to find food to provide to these residents and children. Pastor Sylvia Tisdale is 70 years old she is taking on the task of climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro June 8-15, 2022 to bring awareness to the food insecurity facing this community and hopefully raise enough money to fill the storage containers so that residents and children in this neighborhood will never have to go to bed hungry. Any donation you give to this cause will benefit this community and any amount is welcomed. Help encourage Pastor Tisdale to make it to the top and end hunger in Pensacola!
The Food pantry gives out nearly 60,000 pounds of food a month and the need is still great! When you give, 100% of your donation will go towards filling the food pantry so that those who need food will have access to it.
